Who we are
London Power Corporation has assembled a core team with leaders from the oil and gas industry, banking and finance, and senior government officials. Our management is supported by a team of postgraduate analysts with degrees in fields including finance, energy management, and environmental science. This team is active in evaluating investment opportunities while monetising our existing investments.
The management team
David joined BP in 1979 as a petroleum engineer and worked in senior roles across the North Sea, Asia, the USA, Africa, and Australia. He was appointed as Head of BP Russia, responsible for BP’s interests in TNK-BP as well as its businesses in the Russian Arctic and Sakhalin.
In 2013 he left BP to become CEO of Fairfield Energy, an oil & gas company owned by private equity firms Riverstone and Warburg Pincus. David is a Chartered Engineer.
Since March 2017, David has been working for the UK government as the CEO of the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority responsible for the clean up of the 17 civil nuclear sites around the country.
Director & Chief Executive
Simon has worked extensively in London and the South East of England, spearheading international relationships in a wide array of asset owning companies across the last four decades. He has served as a director on the board of a number of public and private companies including taking some of those that he founded to Initial Public Offerings as well as chairing the regional division of a large clearing bank and an area of a major political party.
Simon has worked closely with the nations surrounding the Caspian Sea and advises the Minister of the Economy of one of those states. These relationships assisted in the formation and subsequent growth of Burren Energy, which was sold after a number of years as a FTSE 350 company to the Italian State Oil Company in a multi-billion transaction.
Director & Head of Future Energy
Charles Hendry was Energy Minister in the UK from 2010-2012, and previously Conservative energy spokesman from 2005-2010.
The Prime Minister subsequently appointed him as his Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Charles is an Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh Business School, President of the British Institute of Energy Economics, and Patron of the Nuclear Institute.
In 2017 he published the Hendry Review of Tidal Lagoons and he is Chair of the Smart Power Industries Alliance. He is a Non-Executive Director of Independent Oil & Gas Plc and of Atlantic Petroleum.
Martin has over 40 years experience in the Financial Services Industry. Martin initially worked for a top 20 life office for 25 years, the last 9 years as Chief Investment Officer being involved in all forms of investment, taxation and new product development within the company. He currently holds the following Non - Executive Director positions; Surrey Save Credit Union, London Oil & Gas and Modular Airspace Systems.
Michael was educated at Tonbridge School and Downing College, Cambridge. He qualified as a Chartered Account and worked at Price Waterhouse from 1971 to 1976. He then joined British Petroleum, becoming Chief Accounting Officer. Michael played a leading role in BP's mergers and acquisitions and was also responsible for the group's financial statements, SEC filings, and other financial reporting requirements.
Caspian Region Advisor
Shahin Bayramov was a PhD student at the Scientific Research Institute on Economic Reforms at the Ministry of Economic Development of the Azerbaijan Republic. As a Business Development Director of AzMeCo Group, which is one of the leading petrochemicals companies in the Caspian region, he was involved in origination, development and structuring of energy and petrochemical projects based in the former Soviet Union countries.
Shahin advises us throughout the Caspian Region, seeking new projects and investment opportunities for our business.
AI Technology Advisor
Dr Jagadeesh Gorla currently runs an advanced machine learning research and engineering company, supported by a high calibre global team of researchers and engineers. His company’s products and services are used by numerous top multinational firms. Prior to his startup venture, he was a Microsoft Research PhD scholar in the Department of Computer Science at University College London and a recipient of Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award. Since leaving academia in 2012, he has designed, developed and deployed machine learning (A.I.) systems for matching (recommendation), used by 250+ million users across four different verticals. Together with Dr Gorla we are exploring opportunities to apply artificial intelligence to aspects of the energy sector.
Chief Financial Officer
David joined our team as CFO in November 2017. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991 and, prior to joining us, spent the last 21 years at a top 10 firm of chartered accountants including 12 years as a partner. During his time in private practice David gained extensive experience assisting clients in a wide range of sectors.
Saxton previously worked in the Canadian Oil and Gas Sector focusing on regulation and logistics for hydraulic frack operations. He has been working with our business since completing his master’s degree, which focused on oil and gas and clean-tech finance. Saxton leads our analyst team and he focuses on business development and project origination.
David joined the analyst team after graduating with an M.Sc. Energy Management master’s degree from ESCP Europe Business School. He holds a bachelor degree in Management from the University of Manchester and has experience in the financial markets working as an Equity Analyst and later as Financial Journalist for Equilor Investment in Budapest, covering the energy and automotive industries.
Henry Hume-Kendall joined the analyst team following his graduation from one of Paris’ Grande Écoles with a Master’s degree in Energy Management and holds a Bachelors degree from Royal Holloway, University of London. Henry also has experience in the Property and Tourism industries, playing a role in both domestic and international developments.
